TRISHANKU

Its going to be two years dear,whispered Akash into Aparnas ears.

Hmm,thats going to be long time,its going to be one hell, missing you already.

and Akash added::this time communication is going to be diffucult too,I am going up there,where its going to be 24 hours of duty.

You mean facing our neighbours, Aparna asked

Yes hun & its going to be CI,Counter Intelligence & so may have to move across the border too couple of times.

She knew Akash was waiting for an opportunity like this & would have opted for this move.Without him it was going to be tough managing life.Even in Chennai,many a times Chats,SMS,off liners,and rare calls used to keep them going. Such was their situation.Akash was everything to her, always bringing cheer to her.In the same way,Aparna gave so much of balance & solace in the tough life he was leading.

Dhruv was 3 years old and Aparajith just 1. Managing both was fun but demanding,but being a home maker she could handle it well.Akash always encouraged her to do higher studies and perhaps take up a job too. He had very high regard for her capabilities but Aparna was clear ,nothing ,till the younger one was 3 & ready for school.

Akash went off to the border & time started moving at its own pace. So their communication was more of sms & calls rare. Being in operation Akash had strictly told her no calls from her & he would only call.And unfortunately due to the nature of his job,calls were tough to make.

In those rare moments of togetherness on the phone,they just used to pour out. Akash was a very considerate human always giving his ears to Aparna ,listening to all her problems & of course give her enough encouragement to face life.Always his words were soothing & Aparna was relieved of all her tensions by merely talking to him.Their good morning sms with a lot of sweet nothings would run for few pages, if printed.These sms became a sort of addiction & a competition as to who would be the first to send morning sms !

Meanwhile Aparna joined a school as a teacher & Aparajith was enrolled in the same school. Akash was happy for her & was sure this would give her the necessary diversion from the mundane life she was leading.She had also told him of her school being strict & it was no no for mobiles. She would always sms him after return from school, after 4 pm.

It was 230 in the afternoon ,Akash's mobile rang ,call was from Aparna. He didn't pick it up as he was in a meeting. Second time, third time..Akash was worried .School time,still a call from her ! She wouldn't be calling repeatedly unless it was an emergency. He excused himself from the meeting & called back to her phone.

A gruff voice was heard on the other side ::This is Aparna's husband speaking. What the hell you think you are doing man.I will bash you up......

Akash switched off his mobile .Aparna had left behind her mobile that day at home & her hubby had gone through all the sms exchanges..

Akash thought to himself about their relationship..Was it an Oasis in their life or they were just chasing a mirage of happiness....

very interesting, but a little confused, no elaboration for the thoughts of Aparna, no reason for deception given...why is she like that?

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@Renu
An age old triangle..Instead of misplaced loveletters( old days ) falling into Hubbys hands,this time its a current day Gizmo of mobile ,with all SMS intact,falling in his hands.
Deception.I dont think so..A lovelesslife leads to this ,I guess

For me its cheating:), if ur life is loveless, get away, divorce and start a new, but living in a sacred relationship and doing all this is deception:) my point of view:)

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@Renu
True,more of such situations are happening around..What could be the reason I wonder..Is it the society ?
TC
CU

Renu said...

yes to a great extent, because we tolerate such behaviour and dont condemn it outrightly:)
In my childhood, I saw that any improper behaviour resulted in sullying the image of a person beyond repair,and people cared for what society thinks of them, so everybody was that extra careful and this is no more now:( since i was brought up with very strong values, I cant ever mix them or dilute them..no never for nothing.

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@Renu
hmm..so other than society, upbringing too becomes an issue..So can it be attributed to failure of current generation parents too ? Does Technology play a role too,I wonder

Ok my bad....now I am not confused....
on the first read I assumed some things and that blurred my understanding....

read it again and agree....in todays life we are wirelessly together but physically apart....and as humans we need the close comfort.....of someone to lean on not just listen and suggest....

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@ ceedy
In todays life we need to share our bursting emotions with someone..if its the spouse then its better & if the spouse does not have the time & inclination ..then one drifts to find a shoulder to lean on ,I guess
Is it Right?..hmm God only knows

ceedy said...

I am not sure if it is right or wrong...

all I feel is that we as humans are made to interact with all our five senses to feel complete

like even the handicapped person finds a way to make other senses stronger when he/she is bereft of one....

same way in the case you mention - there is interaction on a audible level, compassion at a distant, but the feeling of being possessed or to possess, hold to be held, touch to be touched is missing...

dont you think interacting with eyes is much more powerful than exchanging thousand words?

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@ ceedy
True. Eyes do speak a thousand words..But I feel a bit of everything is neccy to make a relationship complete.
In most cases one tries to PUSH the spouse to ones point of view rather than giving in,even a bit, to his or hers point. result, we all know leads even to a situation of presumed incompatibility

I think we miss the point. Leaders and spouses should be chosen with utmost deliberation. Else you'll live in a 26/11 world with a marriage like Renu's.

It might be hard to debate of the "morality" of her situation. But its certainly appears she led her husband on, had two kids with him, continues living with him as a "good" wife, while warming the heart and the bed of another man! If one does not have the guts to end a loveless marriage, then all of one's relationships only become "convenience" arangements. No? :)

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@Sairekha

welcome Sairekha

//Leaders and spouses should be chosen with utmost deliberation.//

Point well made,but does it always happen .meaning is there a choice ,for most couples ?

//If one does not have the guts to end a loveless marriage, then all of one's relationships only become "convenience" arangements. No? :)//

Again its true. But how many can end it even if they want. Social pressure ,does it keep the disjointed relationship,joint ?

Thanks for looking through my blog :-)

The ending on this one was unexpected. A nice one ofcourse, showing off the currrent difficult times in relationships. Its natural for a person to go looking for solace when things around get difficult and when she got it from a third person, she just leaned on a little. That's all it is i guess.. nothing wrong in having a good close friend and nothing wrong if that person doesnt end up as ur partner in life. Only important thing is to know the value of each of those spl relationships and respect them and communicate about it to the other close ones. If her husband was aware of this friend, then no issues rite? And as long as he reamins as a 'friend"

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@Me...
Welcome here..
Relationships are entering complicated terrain.An emotional leaning ,in the real world or in the Virtual world, has become very normal.But the leaning many times becomes a "want". How many are able to keep it Platonic,if at all if one such thing exists! and a spouse not expressing jealousy,outwardly, on one ones "relationship " is again practically non existant.
Where does this leave one ?
Thanks for being here

CU,
I read the post with interest, and the comments too. When one is younger, you look at such things as deception. But when one matures, and goes through life, and knows what loneliness is, we appreciate the value of emotional anchors.

In some ways, this is a mirage. But in others, Akash provides for Aparna what her husband cannot - he keeps her grounded and gives her emotional support.

In India especially, we are told marriage is sacrosanct - and a true marriage of minds is. But how many marriages are a true marriage of minds? Should one person slowly die inside if they feel more deeply than the other?

I had written about this a while back in my post Outsourced emotions.

Take care, and here are my belated Pongal wishes, and wishes for a happy 2009!

anbudan,
Priya.

Compassion Unlimitted said...

@sulphurdreamz
Situation yes but desires,I think no..When lovelessness creeps into ones life,"taken for granted "situation definitely arises..Superficially the situation looks like drifting to satisfy carnal desires. But I think it is seeking love.Right or wrong,its only a perception .
